I'd like to hear other people's stories about their first day and/or first few weeks of retirement.

My first day of retirement was July 1, 2003. The A/C crapped out and had to be replaced (along with the heating system). In Texas you don't put off replacing your central air-conditioning. Especially in July so right off the bat a major expense.

The other thing I vividly remember was planning on playing a lot of golf when I retired. It must have rained every day during July of 2003. Hot, humid and golf. A wake up call for the first month of retirement.

Since then the A/C is still working and I've played a boatload of golf in rain, sun, cold, windy etc. and enjoying every round of it.

Enjoy your retirement.
