I'd look at the charitable contribution - check the amounts the organizations are soliciting for. My family was comforted when we decided to make a gift to the group Mom had supported and we were able to create a plaque in memorial.

Thanks for explaining about the new, large car. Since I hate car buying, I'd take the sales and purchases one at a time. Find a reputable service (like CarMax or the local Nissan dealer) as advised, find a rep you want to work with (personal recommendation and then gut feeling - there are a bunch of choices and you can find a great person to work with), and sell it for what you can get in cash.
