If I may share a variant view, I took something different away from this tragedy. This was the act of a loner, without institutional support, and was triggered mostly by the HIAS/refugee link to this synagogue. I personally think the risk of follow on attacks is low (though synagogues should of course be vigilant about their security as always). I have been impressed by the solidarity shown to the jewish community by both the broader pittsburgh community and the country at large. The crazy anti semites are very much a minority in the US. The jewish community is well integrated and supported; the situation is quite different from that of our brothers and sisters in europe.
