If the two attorneys aren't making sense, I'd scrap them both and go find one who's experienced and focuses his/her practice entirely in this area.

IRS taxes can be eliminated by chap 7, you can eliminate ALL but the last 3 years. They'll require a payment plan for those and you'll have to stay current for the next 5 without failure.

Reorganizing everything is cumbersome, but you should do something fairly soon. The new bk laws haven't gone into effect yet but word on the street is that Congress will get this back on the agenda soon after the new year, and filing a 13 may become much harder. My attorney told me that if it's a matter of choosing a 13 or 7, and you have any legitimacy for a 7, then go that route and forget the 13.
