If there is more to the argument for Hydrogen that it doesn't put fossil CO2 into the air unless we look at the CO2 it actually does put in the air, please let me know and/or send links.

Electrolysis of water is the simplest clean way to get H2 (and O2). If you have sufficient amounts of solar and wind energy this can be done when you aren't providing power directly to users. This also has the advantage that the electrolysis can be done locally (H2 by wire, as it were), at the local gas(?) station.

p.s. last time I checked Methane was CH4. Ammonia is NH3. Perhaps you were conflating the two?
