If you do things that you are familiar with, the brain doesn't fire up any more.

Do you suppose that if you learned a foreign language in your mid-50s, and then you learn another one that's related in your late 50s/early 60s (first one = Spanish, new one = French) it wouldn't help the brain as much as learning something completely alien like Turkish or Albanian?
