If you have a chip card the card must be present, this eliminates the issue of someone getting the info on the mag strip and duplicating the card. PIN not needed...

If your card is physically stolen, it seems that a call to customer service would quickly kill the card and prevent use. So a PIN requirement seems to only have effect between the time the card was stolen and the time it was reported. This seems to be an issue between the card holder and the issuer. What does Walmart have to do with it?

Last year for a short time around Christmas I started having to show my ID when I used a card a Walmart. Then it stopped. If Walmart was really looking out for the little guy and wanted to be sure that the person using the card was the person to whom it was issued perhaps they could keep up this requirement all by themselves.

I also wonder why they seem to be focused on debit cards.
