If you owned a stock before the owner of record day, then sold it after that date would you still receive the dividend when it was payed? If not, does a company not pay a dividend on all the stock traded between the owner of record day and the day the dividend is paid?

Dear guitar,

You can get the dividend as long as you are holding the stock on the 'ex-Dividend date.' Here's a link to our Foolish FAQ that explains everything:
