If you use food to make fuel for cars, that leads to less supply of food, hence higher prices. When dairy farmers have to compete with ethanol makers for cattle feed, the price of milk goes up; if it's ranchers, the price of beef goes up. Etc. Ethanol production should be put on hold until we perfect the processing of grass and waste material instead of using our food. Or remove tariffs from Brazilian ethanol imports. But the farm belt has so much power in congress that that ain't gonna happen.
