I'll take that one. I didn't manage the Boring Port long enough to indicate anything about my abilities or my approach to beat the market. So even if I did beat it or trail it, the data wouldn't mean a whole lot.


I think the key takeaway in running the piece today, and by the way, I'm just a friend of the Fool with no formal affiliation or financial interest, was to highlight the concept of circle of competence, not what a prescient "call" selling Cisco was.


i understand all that. In fact, selling Cisco in 1999 may turn out in the long run to have been not a prescient call at all.

my point was that i just wish they had chosen a less sensational headline.

i will also admit some lingering annoyance that they shut down the one value-oriented portfolio on the Fool. This was long before they shut down the others. For a while just about the only thing i read on the Fool was Bore port and Drip port articles.
