I'm paid monthly - comes with being a full time state employee. I used to get paid weekly when I worked at a minwage job. And while the transition from weekly to monthly was nothing short of hellacious that first month (this being well before I even thought about having an emergency fund), I really prefer a monthly pay period. All my bills get paid out of the one check and I live on the rest. I don't have to worry about having to hold money out of this week's check to combine with next week's check to pay rent.

On the other hand, one of the women we hired through a temp agency ended up having to leave because she couldn't stand getting paid monthly instead of weekly. Takes all types, I guess.

My husband has been monthly for about 10 years. I just transitioned to monthly in the past month. I think it's good *if* you have disciplined spending patterns. If you don't, it can be hellish.

Since taking the finances under control, we're much more disciplined than we used to be. But, we've still had months where we "needed" that last weekly paycheck of mine. I wonder how we'll work out now that I'm paid the same day as hubby.
