in a word: volatility
If, in the last six months or so, you bought CREE for $100 and sold at $150, you made big bucks. Conversely, Shorting at $150 and covering at $100 also paid the same big bucks. This is my rationale for a split. Reduce the volatility. Simplified, I know, but how am I wrong?
