In your original post you wrote: I am going to open a Roth IRA for each of us, I plan on putting 3K in each account once each year.

In your third post you wrote: I thought it said 10K per fund, I was planning on investing 1.5K in two funds, thus the 7 years. I very well may have not understood what I was reading.

According to your first post, you plan on contributing $6K between both RIRAs, but in your third post you indicate that you plan on contributing $3K between both RIRAs. Like Yobria, I was confused about the ten years in your first post.

Sorry about that, I can see where this could be confusing.
I am going to open one roth for me (3K) and one for my wife (3K). The third post was talking about one account, I am planning on buying two different funds VTSMX (1.5K) and VEXMX (1.5K) to make the 3K total, for my account. I thought the vanguard site a $10 charge for each fund until 10K is reached, so 1.5K X 7 years = 10.5K ,so my thinking is it will take me 7 years of the $10 fee.

After reading the responses to my posts, I think I am going with Scottrade since I can get the flexability to buy other types of investments (stocks and ETF's), plus I will not have to pay any fees, sounds like the only way to go.
Anyone know if I can send funds to Scottrade using my free electronic bill pay from my bank ? (I can't see why not)
Thanks again for all your responses, they are really helpful.
