Just for fun, they could save one of those degrees of movement, such as the arms swinging independently, or the spinning of the whole platform, for after a certain special effect: The sound and vibration of metallic and mechanical failure, via a sound system within the main arms or some such. First the loud sounds/sensations, then suddenly rather wrong feeling movement.
What? I thought it was supposed to be scary!
