You have alot of good advice already regarding holding funds in 401k or going with a rollover. All depends on which plan works best for you.
I also (DW included) hold ROTH IRAs with Vanguard and love it for the low fees. We also, have self directed IRAs with brokerage so that we can trade within the IRA and no worry about capital gains, etc.

If you decide to go ahead with a rollover, DO NOT have the check made out to you. The institution is required to withhold tax on the amount and could also come under a 10% penalty for early withdrawal. We were burned on this one some time ago and we still feel the IRS bite.

I also have a 401K that I've left intact because of $0 fees and many choices of investment options and I'm allowed 8 free moves/trades within the plan per year.
