Interesting. I think a dollar might be a little extreme. I use Scottrade and my $7 trades would be $8; maybe a little more, 'cause brokerages would need to process the tax and that costs time and money.

It probably wouldn't change my current trading habits, though. Over the course of a year I buy maybe 8 to 10 times and I try not to sell unless it seems necessary.

Would you also be in favor of a similar tax on options trading?
