"Bell Mobility Inc. of Toronto turned on new Internet services yesterday for users of its next generation wireless phones and announced a new pricing plan, two moves designed to give it a leg up on competitors in what is expected to be a hotly contested market for Web-enabled wireless devices. As reported yesterday in the Financial Post, Yahoo! Inc. of Santa Clara, Calif., through unit Yahoo Canada of Toronto, will provide specialized content for users of certain kinds of Bell Mobility phones. Yahoo will deliver Canadian news, weather, sports and financial data to the special phones. Bell Mobility, a unit of BCE Inc. of Montreal, also announced some other new content providers for its wireless phones including, a service which will allow Bell Mobility users to make travel arrangements, check flight schedules at Canadian airports and receive alerts for delayed flights via a wireless phone. Bell Mobility competitors such as Rogers AT&T Wireless and Clearnet Communications are developing similar services for deployment later this year. Eventually, Bell Mobility will give its customers the chance to customize which content providers they prefer to use. 'Our intent is to let the customer go where they want to go,' said Ms. Burke."
