I've read and reread the contribution limits Traditional and Roth IRAs and I understand That $ 6000 is the maximum contribution if one is over 50 years old.

Is it $ 6,000 each for a total of $ 12,000 or is it $ 6,000 total to both IRAs. Just trying to max out all eligible contributions. I don't have a 401-k or any retirement plans at work.
