I think Inktomi has some features of a potential gorilla as an enabling technology. A scalable profitable business model, high margins and very strong growth. Its platform (search, caching software, commerce software) is in high demand and could be seen as an operating sytem on the Internet.

I'm trying to figure out how high the barriers to entry are in this business?

Let's figure out Inktomi's competitive advantage. Is it the cluster architecture, because it is hard to replicate and is that the reason there aren't many companies in this promising market?

I'll post this message also on the Inktomi's board.

Looking forward to an interesting dabate
