It has come to the attention of this Company that an article about
phytoestrogens appearing in the latest edition of the trade journal
Australian Doctor has the potential to mislead and confuse the
non-scientific community.

The summary of this relatively short clinical study is contrary to
the accumulated data from other reported and comprehensive red clover
isoflavone studies.

These studies showing beneficial cholesterol effects are:

* The Effect of Promensil, an Isoflavone Extract, on Menopausal
Symptoms. D C Knight, J B Howes and J A Eden, Climacteric 2: 79
(1999). Result: 18% improvement in HDL in postmenopausal women taking
Promensil(TM).

* The effect of an isoflavone dietary supplement (P-081) on serum
lipids, forearm bone density and endometrial thickness in
postmenopausal women. R Baber, P Clifton-Bligh, G Fulcher, D
Lieberman, L Nery, and T Moreton. Proc 10th Annual Meeting of North
American Menopause Society New York, 23-25 September, 1999. Result:
21% improvement in HDL cholesterol in postmenopausal women taking
Rimostil(TM).

* Effect of an isoflavone supplement on cholesterol mtabolism in
premenopausal women - a pilot study. S J Smith, P M Lyons-Wall, and S
Samman. Abstract, Nutrition Society of Australia Annual Meeting,
Adelaide (1998). Result: 12% increase in HDL in premenopausal women
taking Promensil.

* The effect of supplementation with isoflavones on plasma lipids and
oxidisability of low density lipoprotein in premenopausal women. S
Samman, P M Lyons-Wall, G S Chan, S J Smith, and P Petocz.
Atherosclerosis 147:277 (1999). Result: Significant period effect
(improvement over time of treatment) in HDL in premenopausal women
taking Promensil.

* Isoflavones and the breast J V Woodside, M J Campbell, J Br
Menopause Soc (Supplement) In Press. Result: 5-10% increase in HDL in
healthy premenopausal women taking Promensil.

* Isoflavones from red clover benefit cardiovascular function. P J
Nestel, J Br Menopause Soc (Supplement) In Press. Result: significant
LDL lowering in hypercholeresterolaemic women after 12 weeks taking
Rimostil.

Isoflavone technology has now developed such that cholesterol effects
can now be influenced by the intake of standardised formulations
containing specified ratios of the four main isoflavones.
