Vouch. I went into the market in late 2007 with a bias toward buying used, and ended up buying a new end of model year 2007 Hyundai Accent, for about what I would have had to pay for a used Civic with 50K miles.

THBS, the market changes. Next time I need to buy a car, I might find that used makes sense. Last time, there wasn't a sufficient discount on used cars to compensate me for the fact that they were used. Perhaps in 2017 or 2018 when I'm shopping again, there could be enough of a discount to swing the decision to used.

This also depends on what you want. I wanted a fuel efficient small car with a manual transmission. If I'd wanted a Subaru with AWD, used would have made more sense.
