It is true it's the best fir for the more experienced. But "dire consequences"? I don't see that at all. There will be more job-hopping, but that's not actually a negative in my opinion. It exposes you to more people and more ways or working.

Experience matters, but you don't have to get it from a big company. Heck, I once hired an ex-jockey who had worked construction.
