It's similar to saying your house will never burn down or the airplane you are in will never crash............................................

Slow down. Collision coverage is where YOUR insurance company will pay to fix YOUR car if YOU are deemed to at fault for the collision not the "other guy".

If I run into the back of your car, or run a red light and broadside you MY insurance company pays to fix/replace your car since I would be considered to be at fault.

Also, the idea behind insurance is to protect you from financial hardship, like paying for a $20,000 car that you can't drive because it was totaled, but you still owe the bank $17,000 AND you still need to get another car.
Unless you go out and total your car this week, it will be worth less than $5000 when the time comes for your collision coverage to pay out so you run the very real risk of having paid, oh let's say $5000 in collision premiums yet your insurer will only cut a check for the value of the car at the time of the loss, which in another year or two may only be $2500

This is all assuming that you run the red light, etc and are at fault.

I'd drop the collision if I were you, but of course you are free to do what lets you sleep better at night.

There are minor variations for No Fault jurisdictions.
