I've been following TTP for awhile now too.

The real blockbuster for Titan seems to be DITPA. It's just a hormone replacement (T3) - something already naturally produced by the body. This by no means guarantees FDA approval but it seems more likely since it is something already naturally produced, although insufficiently by some individuals.

Along with treating individuals with CHF (which is a huge market "It is estimated that approximately 1 million CHF patients collectively in the U.S. and Europe have low levels of thyroid hormone T3." -Titan), DITPA also lowers LDL (bad cholesterol). ("also demonstrated significant cholesterol and triglyceride lowering capability in pilot clinical testing. -Titan") ("Total serum cholesterol (p = 0.005) and triglycerides (p = 0.01) also were decreased significantly. DITPA could represent a useful new agent for treatment of congestive heart failure." -Department of Cardiology, Southern Arizona Veterans Administration Health Care System and Sarver Heart Center, University of Arizona)

From Titan's 8-K filed in 2003, patients saw a reduction of 35% in triglycerides and a 24% reduction in serum cholesterol over the period of a 4 week study.

Titan is approaching the trials by testing DITPA on individuals with severly low T3 levels (those with Class III-IV CHF). This seems to be a good approach since a positive outcome would be more extreme and easier to show to the FDA. Titan thinks that T3 hormone replacement can also be used for patients with diastolic dysfunction (2 million individuals in the US and Europe) but is beginning to approach the market by showing effects in severe cases.

Interesting stuff!
