I've been looking at this 135 Amp 110v welder. I've had good experience with stuff I bought from them: The specs say it has a 20% duty cycle at 90 Amps. I'm wondering if I can get enough heat out of it to skip weld up to 1/4" plate with enough penetration.

Probably not, Bob. If you read the review, it say;
“I'm pleased with this unit. I'm using it for body panel replacements, typically 16 & 18 gauge sheet metal. I also played around with 3/16" plate to test the penetration capabilities. With .025" wire I would say 3/16" is the thickest you could go with decent penetration.

I got a coupon fur Harbor Freight Tool’s 170 amp welder (See; ) for $169.99. Dat one would handle 1/4-inch steel day say but it takes 220 volts to run it. One idear might be to git a bigger welder and also a lectric generator to run it. Down here, after da hurricane season be ober, Home Depot & Lowe’s got fairly healthy generators on sale dat may have been only used fur a few hours and are selling fur a couple hundred less den dare new ones.

C.J.V. - got 220V 30A available in da pool house, garage/workshop & greenhouse, me
