I've been playing against the heavy short positions in a few of the mortgage REITs. In CAPS, I pulled the trigger a bit early on TMA, but RAS, MFA, PCC, RMH, and a few others have been nice to me. I have been trading these for short term gains, but we are talking about 3-4% moves when I take the profit and you pretty much have to watch them all day. I would not buy and hold TMA or RMH, but MFA and PCC are not bad, RAS is probably a hold too, although it has a bit more risk.
