I've been wondering lately about the best retirement places (in the US). Lots of things figure into it like weather, taxes, etc. And I guess it's different for everyone.

But it would be kind of cool to know where the least expensive places (that meet your most important criteria) are.

I find it hard to judge, too -- because so many expenses are kind of hidden.

I would also look at projected climate change also since this will impact and alter things more and more rapidly in the next few decades.

Example....Florida, projected rises in sea level, increased power of hurricanes, and projected droughts with sudden rain events (flash floods) may make it far too expensive to live there as infrastructure collapses and once valuable coastal property vanishes literally into the sea.

The Southwest will probaly dry out (more) and large metro areas like Phoenix, L.A., Tucson may be unlivable due to water rationing....yep lots of things to think about.

Most won't think I suspect or will be trapped by economics.
