Annuities (except immediate annuities) are some of the most complex investments that most people will ever see and the sales brochures are often intestinally misleading.


If they make it difficult to research and understand the details, then it is a good bet that the annuity that you are looking at is part of the 99% of them that are a poor choice and all of that fine print greately favors the insurance company.


When you start seeing phrases like "guaranteed" or "minimum" you can pretty well bet that exactly what is guaranteed or how the minimum is calculated, it likely not really as good as it sounds.
