Well, I emailed the guy with some advice about chilling out wrt the daughter situation. He didn't take to kindly to that and said so. in 108 emails.

Yeah, looks like he has control issues.

Talk about pent-up hostility. Real, adequate men don't need to relate to others via intimidation and fear. How fascinating it would be to learn about the issues and shortcomings Jiml8 is attempting to compensate for. I hope he seeks professional help.

Nah, he's bombing with forged headers and my serverside blocking doesn't work too well.

Quote from his email just before the roughly 7000 identical emails showed up:

It is a shame that your defective cousin didn't take you with him.

Beyond that I am going to mail bomb you because I said don't email me.

I'm becoming more and more worried for his family, now. I can imagine any number of "Look at what you made me do!" LifeTime movies-of-the-week scenarios playing out while he deals with the separation anxiety of leaving the Fool and all of his friends after all of these years.

I'm with you. His "farewell- wait no I"m back to explain but now gone this time for REAL" last post on HWTSComputer seemed insane to me- listing all the psychotic people in this world who blah blah blah. I read it and all I could think was, "Uh, buddy? Ever think maybe it's YOU and not THEM?"

But heck to buttons if I"m going to get in the line of that dude's rage.

I seriously honestly and deeply hope that he gets the help he needs. He may be a reasonable guy, and therapy helps those who help themselves. Better therapy then jail time, wouldn't you agree?

Y'all may want consider that just maybe, perhaps in some small way, almost, that under TMF's rules about being "civil", one or two of you guys may just maybe, perhaps, almost be considered "uncivil" towards Jim?

There might be enough FA's to go around ?

Tis ironic is it not? Now allegations of him being a homosexual, a chainsaw killer, a wife and child beater....soon we will cross into that region of comparison to the Nazi's where hopefully this thread will die a merciful death and some very clueless individuals will go away with it.

Stockemup, the thread will likely die soon as all controversial threads do. You are not doing your friend, jiml8, a service by continuing to fan the flames on this board.

Since I'm gonna catch hell for my opinion, I might as well try to explain myself.

I am NOT saying that Jim did or didn't do whatever y'all say he did, but to keep playing with him, agitating him, doesn't sound like a real mature thing to be doing either.

Then to complain when it escalates?

First and foremost he is not a friend but rather an acquaintance I know via TMF. Second, I am demonstrating for predictable effect the lunacy of several contemptable individuals who have character assassinated not only Jiml8 but now me as I figured would happen. I am sure there are many lurkers that do not post and they along with just my own sense of leading some here by the nose ring(no offense to this with a nose ring) is mildly amusing.

I actually think that pulling FA'd posts on the Fool can be kind of a bad thing because it erases evidence that a particular poster might be "off." Like the baseball bat post - it would be good to be able to go back and see what exactly he said, why, etc.

I didn't do much to taunt the guy. I certainly think the ~7000 emails I got are out of proportion to the percieved slight. My god, what's wrong with saying something in email rather than spraying it all over TMF? That's basic etiquette.

This is why I gave the Fool a "garbage" email account. I have one account that I give all the companies that want your email address to send junk email- every once in a while, you get real mail, but mostly just junk.

I'd never give my real email accounts (my personal email account that I use for friends/family or my business account) to any business.

If he is as unstable as you think, that seems like a poor choice of actions.

I dunno. It may not have taken much, either? The guy asked that he not be emailed? What would you be saying that "shouldn't be sprayed all over TMF"?

Folks are dealing with someone they think is nuts, and they are surprised by his response.

After they specifically asked you not to e-mail them?

No, that is rude.

You should have let it drop, but you choose to dig at him again and then complain when he retaliates.

I haven't seen anything to indicate jiml8 asked not to be emailed. I didn't remember it from the original thread, and I just used TMF search and didn't come up with it either. On the other hand TMF search sucks, but I'm not sure he ever asked not to be emailed.

I tried to read the post but it was too predictable and repetitive. It did occur to me, however, that this entire "episode" would make an interesting short paper (10 or so pages) on projection for an introductory psych class.

IF, I know you’re just kidding, but I hope no one would ever fight fire with fire in this situation.

The repercussion is that no one would be better off. Each party would just continue to worsen the other’s situation. Someone impersonated me online for years. Signing me up for dubious emails was one of the more mild things he did.

He is computer savvy, so he was hard to catch. Finally, he slipped up. He left a trace, and with help I discovered his identity. Turns out, after all these years, that it was a friend (or so I thought…).

I never did back to him what he did to me. And it’s a good thing, too, because now if he doesn’t cooperate with the police, he will be criminally charged. Not to mention that, either way, he will likely be expelled from his graduate program and university.

I think the problem is that you're relying on a secondhand comment from a guy who threatens his wife, puts guns in people's mouths, laughs at his child's suffering, and uses a mailbomber which is illegal.

It got ugly when jim went off the freaking deep end. I don't know whats brought all this out in him, but he's the one that is nuts.

Well, I'm not sure that this is directed at me, but it is in response to my post, so here goes. A poster complained of being harassed by another TMF member, so I suggested it should be reported. I don't decide who is the bad guy here, that's the moderator of TMF's job. And, I don't believe I posted any hurtful remarks on the original thread.

Are you proposing first he get some therapy and then serve time in jail? If not, then perhaps you meant to say ...

"Better therapy than jail time" .... getting therapy instead of serving time in jail.

Which is what you meant?
