Just for the sake of discussion: if I were going to attempt an ongoing systemic harvest, I'd be inclined to try AGNC, which trades below BV right now and which is being very, very carefully analyzed on Seeking Alpha for ongoing changes to its BV. It yields more than 18%. I agree that timing the buys and sells would be tricky. I wouldn't do this with a stock I wouldn't be happy owning longer term if it became necessary.

More likely, I will be trading out of losers more readily than I have been. This is also a kind of "tax harvest" without requiring a belief in perpetual motion machines or magic tax loss generating systems. With your help, I now have a clearer idea in which cases that may be profitable. Thanks!
