I just found this board, which is good, because if I had found it a couple months ago, I would have ignored it. See, I'm not very crafty. I don't sew, cross-stitch, quilt, make Christmas presents, anything at all. But I've decided to get more crafty, for a couple of reasons. First, to save money; second, to give me something to do in the evenings besides going out for drinks or watching bad TV.

I just moved into a new apartment, and have decided to decorate my bedroom -- I'm tired of the dorm-room look of mismatched everything. But I'm broke, so as much as I'd love to, I can't just go to Pottery Barn and redo the room.

Here are a few things I've decided to do:
* Mat and frame some lovely flower prints from a calendar instead of buying art for the wall.
* Make curtains (well, sheers) for the windows.
* Make a scarf-type swag for the windows.
* Making some decorative pillows.
* Maybe if I get really brave and creative, making a duvet cover. But that's a ways off.....

When I called my mother and asked to borrow her sewing machine, she just about died. I used to sew when I was younger (12-16 yrs old), so with a little practice I'll be fine with the sewing machine.

Well, I don't really have a question or anything, I just wanted to say hi. And if anyone has any ideas for projects I could do (no paiting or wallpapering, unfortunately - I'm renting), I would really love to hear them!
