One of new sci-fi/fanstasy authors that I just started reading is Kage Baker. The first book in the series is "The Garden of Iden." I discovered her by reading a short story of her's in Asimov (recently subscribed to because cubemate's son was selling magazine subscriptions for school. No presssure there.)

It's an interesting concept. People from the 24th century going back in time, saving children and turning them into immortals. The Garden of Iden takes place during the reign of Bloody Mary.

I liked the series, though some of the inconsistencies, especially in the fourth book bugged me.

Dang it, how come my co-workers kids never sell stuff as cool as that?
