When the moment of truth arrived on TV screens at a local restaurant Wednesday night, more than 100 family members and friends jumped out of their chairs and screamed.

Morgan, 13, one of the stars of the CBS reality show "Kid Nation" was awarded a coveted $50,000 gold star on the last episode of the season.

Over six weeks, 40 school-aged children rebuilt a New Mexico ghost town. Only Morgan's parents and the show's cast members knew that she had won; even brother JT, 11, and sister Shelby, 8, were in the dark.

Student from my wife's school system.

I really hope they pick this show up for another season. This is easily the best new reality show in years.
