This is more of a legal question, but maybe someone knows the answer. I live in an apartment behind someone's house, it's a converted garage. My landlady just rents this one apartment. I'm about to renew my lease. However, my landlady mentioned that she is thinking about moving to Florida. She said she probably wouldn't sell the house, and she wasn't going to move until sometime next year anyway. But I noticed a couple of realtors dropping by, so I'm wondering.

Anyway, my question is, if she does sell the house, will my lease still hold? Provided I get the renewal and sign it before she changes her mind. The lease will run until May of 2001, and it's a standard lease without anything in it about change of ownership. My apartment is only a mile from my job, and it's highly unlikely I'd find another apartment anywhere nearby, so I'd prefer to stay. But new owners might not want to rent out the apartment, or might dramatically raise the rent.
