About a year ago I read an article stating that Siemens would start mass-producing what LEDs bulbs for the general marketplace sometime this year. However, I haven't seen anything since that original article.

Has anyone seen or heard anything about these bulbs being made available in the US?

FYI, the LED bulbs use <1/3 the power of CFLs, have a 20+ year life span, contain no mercury (or other heavy metals), and are solid state (therefore they're pretty robust compared to incandescent & CFL bulbs).

I'd really like to get ahold of some of these for my household!
