Leolo states,

Leolo - Who wishes GWM would bestow on us what is a superior investment class. And have pity on him if he does not have 20 binders of data and a single quote from Bernstein's book to support his claim.

There are numbers of posts here by myself and others, regarding other investment classes and strategies that I feel are superior to equities. True enough, there are no binders of data, but I'm always happy to provide returns and data from my own historical perfromance.

As I've stated here before, I think a good investor would never limit themselves to equities alone. The world of opportunity is just too big, and value ebbs and flows over time from every investment class, including equities.

I cant recall ever losing a dime in real estate, net-net. In fact, I cant recall a year in which my real estate investments didnt trounce the S&P. I also have never had returns anywhere near those that I've yielded over the years on my investments in small businesses, including my own.

That said, most of my investments over the past year or so have been long into the stocks of cash stable companies, and short into those riding the current building and debt wave. There's just too much blood in the shark filled waters of real estate right now, IMHO.
