Alphonso Delanty, pitched for the Pittsburg Nationals, and in 1888 starred in the world series games between his team, and the Boston Beans. He was orphaned at the age of 7 when his father and mother were killed in a tragic babycoach accident. He did start game 3 that year but was relieved in the 6th inning and got a 'no-decision'.
