Congratulations on an outstanding performance--you've even beat Bernard this month. He's feeling bad anyway, because Fidelity New Millenium Fund matched his returns for January!

Thanks, but lets be fair here…Bernard manages real money, he deserves REAL props. He does a great job, and I'm a big fan of his. The KARM was chosen collectively by people at the Kua`aina Partners message board and it is not a real money portfolio. We wanted to instill the message that normal Fools like us can beat the market by performing our own due diligence and follow the Foolish principles. Of course, some of us own the names in our real life portfolio.

To be serious for a moment, however, I'm not sure I would classify your portfolio as a RM: 60% was allocated to tech stocks and one of them was an internet stock. I don't follow Nokia and won't comment on it, but it doesn't add much industry diversification. Of the five, only MRK looks like the holdings in the Fool's RM Port--ie companies you could hold for 10-20 years and that would let you sleep at night.

Why not? Each one of the companies is a rule maker. Yes, we may be weak on correlation, but I think it is undeniable the future growth trends of these companies. The techs may move together, but I think each of the companies differ in their respective areas of growth. We didn't buy MSFT, INTC and DELL where they all hold hands. We didn't buy CSCO, PMCS, and LU. The goal of the RM port is to be able to buy em and sock em away and still sleep well at night. I strongly feel that we have chosen companies that fit that description. Short term, yes, one may need some Maalox . But long term, I trust these companies to continue to outperform the markets.

Perhaps some other posters on this board will comment. I'd say your Port isn't one for the faint-hearted, but I'd be interested in hearing what others have to say.

It may not be for the faint of heart, in the short-term, but if you are patient and have a long term investment horizon, these Rule Makers will win BIG. Heck, take a look at the KARB port- now that one is NOT for the faint of heart. The RMs are proven winners…
