lovingrose,

You wrote, The only reason I am even getting one at the current time is that I paid in advance for a stay at a hotel in March. I found out afterwards that I need to present a CC when I get there; debit card will not do. This was not explained to me at the time I paid; otherwise, I would not have accepted the offer.

Yes, there is a product for this. What you're looking for is a secured credit card. It's backed by a deposit account at a bank. Of course that means you also have to have the cash for that deposit account. And the time to open the account and card before your trip.

Don't bother applying for an account at a bank you may have stiffed in bankruptcy. Likely they'll reject your application.
