In my experience, there are 10 nice people for every nasty in pretty much every collection of human beings. I don't think it's best for me to fold, because that would mean isolation from the people I really like and can exchange ideas with in a courteous fashion. Imagine how fragmented human society would be if every nice person withdrew from a group if a nasty person showed up.
