<<For most people, converting an ordinary IRA to a Roth is not a good idea. At best, it's a wash. See , KATZ's excellent web site.>>

Thanks for the compliment on my web site, but if I left the impression that converting to a Roth IRA is at best a wash, then my site isn't as good as I'd hoped it would be. For many people, conversion to a Roth IRA is a boon that will ultimately add many thousands of dollars -- even hundreds of thousands -- to their wealth. I've tried to point out (as Pixy has on a number of occasions) that under certain conditions a Roth IRA produces exactly the same after-tax results as a regular IRA. Maybe I need to put a warning at those places to read the rest of the material, because it's clear that many people will reap significant rewards if they take full advantage of the Roth IRA.
