<<I had just glanced around Fooldom thinking I was a year away from participating when I found this folder. This is my new home for a while.>>

Hey, Roy!

Welcome to The Motley Fool! It's great having you here, and I hope that this becomes your home for a very long while. : )

Congratulations on your progress in getting out of debt. That's one of the most important things we try to convey here. Once you're free of those burdens, you'll be Foolishly ready and willing to make your money work for you, instead of against you.

<<I keep wanting to start a $50 or $100 per month investment in USAA's S&P 500 fund but I am determined to pay off the cards first. Wish Me Luck!>>

We wish you tons of luck, but to be honest, I don't think you'll need it. Once you've got your cards out of the way, you'll be able to send in those funds to your investments instead.

And while you're preparing, you may have to decide if that's even the right fund for you. If it's an S&P Index 500 fund, why not look at Vanguard, who has the lowest fees in the industry? See? you're already getting ahead. ; )

Then, of course, there are even those of us who might even try to get you thinking about other alternatives, like DRiPs...but we've got time for that. ; )

Good luck, Roy, and welcome aboard! Feel free to ask any questions you have and take part in any discussions. We'll look forward to it!

...but I still am...
