I guess you never have the whole story but it sounds like an unsolicited sales attempt. Do you do this? Am I going to get a call from my bank. "Gee...we noticed that you have been writing a lot of checks to discount brokers are you aware of our line of annuity products?..."

To be fair to car salesmen, I haven't heard of them chasing down senior citizens driving Cadillacs and trying to lease them a Lexus.
