Thanks!

I was getting sucked into politics too much on these boards, and I was getting really frustrated, so I left for a while.

I don't know what it is about politics, but it makes people who are otherwise very intelligent rationalize anything and everything, no matter how absurd and no matter how easy it is to find evidence that their understanding of reality is completely wrong. Confirmation bias is a really powerful force in human behavior!

Amen to that! You have people defending children being taken from their parents and put in cages, appalling.

What's worse is that many people will vilify a policy when one political party does it and give a pass to their own political party when they do the same thing.

That's one advantage of being an independent. I don't feel any urge to defend policies that I don't agree with.

Madcap leaves board because he got “too sucked up in political discussions”, then comes back and immediately fires up a political discussion.

Irony!

You must have been part of the reason because you are on my ignored list.

You Sir are not independent.
You have posted over 30,000 times to the contrary.
Why be dishonest?

I don't support any political parties (they are all horrific). I'm not a member of any political party, nor have I ever been a member of a political party. I don't vote.

I consider myself an independent. Semantic games annoy me. Call me whatever you want.

Confirmation bias is a really powerful force in human behavior!

You think it is just with politics?

In this board you can justify any nonsense with "intrinsic value", and on Saul's board if you question valuation, which you should not to begin with as they are very clear about their mission, you will be asked are you a "short".

Human brain has triggers and how they get programmed in some ways is amazing.

Who's done that?

I am betting you don't have all of the facts due to poor information sources.

I didn't say that it is just with politics. It exists in any domain that is very complex, such as economics, investing, climate change, epidemiology, etc.

Madcap’s whataboutism: A previous administration detained people at the border so why is it wrong for this administration to put kids in cages? Psssst— though you claim to be an innocent independent who doesn’t vote so cant possibly be biased, those two events are not the same.

Wait, what the hell am I doing? I’ve taken his post and made it even more political.

My goal here is not to be the hypocrisy-police, but to listen to smarter folks than me talk about Berkshire.

My apologies to Madcap and others.

Umm

Many liberals were outraged at photos of children in cages when they thought that the photos were taken during the Trump Administration, but then they backtracked when they found out the photos were taken during the Obama Administration. Putting children in cages was suddenly okay.

Now comes the part where you rationalize it.

Obama officials rushed to explain photos from 2014 that went viral showing locked-up immigrant children — and Trump's facilities look the same

I will start with something you can agree...

while Trump is criticizing "chain immigration" his in-laws have became US citizens through that process this week. You would not hear a beep about it in any conservative channels.

Now, democrats defend Bill and Hillary as Woman's right activist... while Bill's behavior and Hillary's support or being an enabler is completely overlooked by Left. The irony is Hillary thought that she could attack Trump on that. Go figure...

We’re engulfed in politics these days. Let’s all try harder to keep this board politics-free. Just distracts and creates animus.

MadCap is a German national-socialist and should crawl back under the rock he just came from.

There, saved this board another endless string of rants.

Now we can all go back to our regular rationalizing whether Tesla and Amazon are(n’t) worth what the market is paying.

You’re welcome.

While that is certainly a reasonable thing to think, since it is coming from you it isn't very credible considering your actions during the previous administration.

You are missing context. Not surprising.

"Now comes the part where you rationalize it."

I guess calling it "rationalization" is one way to wave away significant distinctions.

I would explain the distinctions to you but you have made it clear you don't want to hear them. You prefer to remain ignorant so you can spout your ignorance while pretending to be "independent".

If you change you mind. Let me know.

No, you are not an independent. You blindly support an ideology. All contrary evidence is ignored.

Besides, you seem to only get your political information from the crazy right wing echo chamber. Where is the independent thought in that?

If left the boards to escape political troll posts why are you filling this board with political troll posts? Is it akin to a heroin addiction or something?

He is not. He said he left because of all the politics, and doesn’t want to talk about politics, and so several other posters are testing his resolve by criticizing the politics they assume he supports. So far he is holding up well!

It turns out, oddly enough, that I am not. Not only mums and Russians feel the urge to come to the defence of people whom they feel are being unfairly maligned.
