I brag about making money on credit cards. Chase is paying 5% on gas and discover pays 5% on restaurants. On april 1 they will switch and chase will be restaurant and Discover will be gas. I build up a $45 credit with Discover and get a $50 gift card but with chase I take the cash because their gift card deals aren't as good. I probably earned around $500 last year. Several years ago I ran up $150,000 in credit card debt but all that money was borrowed at 0% interest and put into savings certificates. I made a little over $5000 after expenses. But I am always careful to pay the card immediately to avoid interest charges.
