Many people who buy compact pickups really wanted a full size and end up dissapointed with the compact. I was one of those. Bought an S-10 and enjoyed the truck but always wished I'd gone the extra $$$ for the full size. My next pickup purchase was a C-1500. I was always happy with that truck. I had to trade it for a car two years ago because of a job change. I still miss that truck pretty regularly.

Yor milage may vary. But you've already realize that you like the mid-size Dakota better than the true compacts. So I suggest that you at leqast ask yourself, "Do I really want a full size?" If you do try to make the cash stretch. The satisfaction indexes in Consumer Report's also show that full-size owners are much more satisfied with their purchases than compact pickup owners.
