Many private schools also require that you submit a CSS Profile as well as a FAFSA for financial aid.

This is an excellent point. For folks who have not yet started this process, the CSS Profile seems to be due a whole lot earlier than the FAFSA. I had to have it done by the beginning of November for the earliest of DD's schools, and several of them require additional information including W2's and taxes.

DD made a nice spreadsheet that she's been using to track things and stay organized. It includes the basic information, pointer to the school's website, and all the important dates for things like CSS Profile, FAFSA, Early Action, Regular Action and decision dates. She's also included the extra forms they require and other things.

If you have a child looking at multiple schools, or in my case, multiple children looking at schools, this is a great tool to have to help keep organized.
