Mark, Greg & Chuck, thanks for the replies. DW & I have been completely debt free (we own our home, a farm, all vehicles, etc...) for all of 3 to 4 weeks when my 17 year old son wrecked my Neon. It was 9 years old with 135,000 miles on it, but it was dependable. I only carried liability on it. I replaced it with another new Neon today. I wrote a check from my home equity line for $12,100. In a couple of weeks when I get to my days off, I'm going to go to Kiplinger.com and do some number crunching with their calculators to see what works out best. I'll report back with my findings. Mark, my 401K is invested 100% in the stock market, mostly in Barclay's S&P 500 Index Fund.
