When you create the account, you can select either an asset or a brokerage (which is really what a 529 acct is). You may have to find the tickers from the web, but they should be telling you what funds you chose. I think that they cover themselves with that blanket statement in order to assess their fees. Once you receive a statement, you will now for sure how they have it constructed.
