Social Security - Al Levit
I appreciate your insight on the Social Security issue. The last section - "One Foolish Actuary's Opinion" I must take issue with. You made many excellent points and I agree with everything but one key section - Means Testing. Your usage of a no-brainer I would rephrase, If an individual pays into a system all of his/her life, that individual is entitled to receive the benefits. Maybe they refuse the money, maybe they donate it but they have earned it. In all likelihood this individual paid more than the average citizen and you want to withhold their benefits?

I agree with leveling the playing field and taxing all income and not just up to the wage base of $68,400. A regressive or progressive tax system is bad policy. Treat all Americans equal.
